Getting to care

Need a ride to a medical appointment?

Medicaid programs can help eligible members get necessary transportation to covered care when they do not have another way to get there. This is often called non-emergency medical transportation, or NEMT.

  1. 01
    Check your Medicaid card

Call the member services or transportation number on the back.

  2. 02
    Call before your visit

Advance notice is usually required. Ask your plan how early to book.

  3. 03
    Have the details ready

Bring your Medicaid ID, appointment time, provider address, and any mobility needs.

Not for emergencies—call 911 if you are in immediate danger. Availability, eligibility, notice rules, and ride types vary by state and Medicaid plan. Confirm your benefit before booking.
